Fire Shelter
According to the U.S. Forest Service, in the past 20 years fire shelters have saved hundreds of lives. All federal wildland firefighters are required to carry fire shelters and most state, local and rural departments follow similar guidelines. No matter what your department's policies may be, no one should be on the fireline without a forest fire shelter.
